The entire F1GP world was thrown into a stae of shock by the entry into the championship of the eccentric Cambusters team. Donald MacLeod and Stephen Leary outqualified everyone else to start the race on the front row of the grid. MacLeod, himself, was a controversial two thirds of a second ahead of his teammate - the biggets lead of the seaoson. After much debate it was decided that their times could stand.
Impressively, Roberts has yet to fail to finish a race, and has finished no worse than 7th all season. He has won two races. Smit, winner of three races, has finished 7 races, all in the Top 10, with only his crash at USA marring his season. Hans Gunnar Hansen has also finished 7 races in the Top 10, although he is still looking for his first victory.
A special mention should be given to Andrew Clark and Uwe Schuerkamp who continue to compete in the championship despite not finishing in the points in any of their 8 races.
The Constructors` Championship is also very close, with Nightmare on Pit Lane 3 points ahead of DigiTech. It has to be acknowledged, though, that the vast majority of their points have been won by Smit and Roberts, since their teamates - Grant Reeve and Alan Strang, respectively - are currently languishing in mid-table mediocrity. Red Five Renault are 3rd, thanks mainly to Schaftlein.
